Nucs

Bee Nucs

A beekeeping nuc is a smaller version of a standard hive. It's designed to hold a few frames of bees, brood, and honey. Typically, it includes 4-5 frames, ventilation to keep bees comfortable, and a secure lid to protect them from the elements. It's an incredibly versatile tool that beekeepers can use for a variety of purposes, including queen rearing, swarm capture, or starting new colonies. You can place a frame with queen cells in a bee nuc to have the queen hatch without the fear of the old queen destroying the cell. When swarm season is in full swing, you can place a swarm lure or attractant to capture the honey bee swarms that may come from your bee yard. Some beekeepers sell honey bees in bee nucs to beginners to give their colony a strong start. Whatever you need a nuc box for—whether raising queens, capturing swarms, or starting a hive—Dadant & Sons has durable, high-quality boxes and accessories that will provide your bees with the security and space they need to thrive.
