Pollen / Propolis Traps

8-Frame pollen traps collect pollen to be used as a protein for brood and queen rearing in early spring. Pollen traps are placed over the hive entrance and cause the bees to squeeze through small openings. These small openings cause some of the pollen to fall off of the bee and into a collection tray where the pollen is stored. How much pollen is collected can vary depending on the size of the opening and how much pollen the bees have gathered.
